Coal and Long Tailed

Not a bad day in the garden today, we've had all the Tits, Coal, Blue, Great and Long Tailed.

Here are a few shot of the Coal Tit I managed to get, hope you like them.

To see more of my Coal Tit shots click HERE and the juveniles click HERE.

For all the Tit family click HERE and click into the images.

This one was a bit more of a surprise I haven't seen these in my garden for a year or so and it landed just before I was about to put fresh food out so it might not come back, fingers crossed it will.

All photos taken 14/09/2008 with Nikon D70 + Sigma 170-500mm.

  3. Every time I look at the coal tit and how much it is like the chickadee, I wonder why it would evolve that white stripe on its head?? It is such a cute little bird, but that long tail is even cuter! Again....why would it want such a long tail?? Your photos are wonderful and so detailed. I hope they come back so we can enjoy even more!

  4. I have never seen those long-tailed tits before. What beauties. The other ones look like our Carolina Chickadees. They are such endearing birds. They visit our feeders regularly. Beautiful pictures Mike.

  8. Hi Mike,

Fantastic pics as usual. We get Coal and Long-tailed tits in our garden too. They are very active, and they seem to visit in large flocks too.

  9. What a beautiful little bird this Long-tailed Tit is! It looks like it could be a little toy with its very sweet and friendly look about it. Nice photos.
