Down the Mere.

After getting an invite to meet up with some of the Birdforum members I went to Martin Mere.

There was nothing about which is pretty normal for this time of the year , just the usual Mallard, Lapwings and Moorhens. In a couple of months you won't be able to move for whooper Swans and Geese, I am hoping to film them and post the video of thousands of geese and swans coming in.

There where 3 Marsh Harriers to be seen all far off, but after sitting in the United Utilities hide for a while they did come in closer, this was the best shot I got, but they where still a long way off.

After going to a couple of hides we decided to take a walk around the captive area in the reserve, I didn't catch the name of all the birds as they are from all over the world, but here are the best of the day.

A good day and nice to put faces to names.

All shot taken with Nikon D70 + Sigma 170-500mm

  1. That's great stuff again - 2nd last being my favorite. Love the low POV there! We're in the dry (a bit boring) part of the year, too!
Though butterflies are starting to get crazy...
    Cheers, Klaus

  2. Sounds like you had a great time, even without too many birds. I like the flight shot and the duck with the funny wing position :-) All lovely photos. Look forward to that video in a couple months.
