Delamere Forest

We have been watching the weather all week and today was supposed to be rain rain rain, thankfully it wasn't, so we decided to go to Delamere Forest in Cheshire.

The first shot is quite strange and totally unexpected, its a Turtle or Terrapin of some sort, it must have been approx 4 inches high and maybe 8 inches long and doing well I would say, I'm thinking that someone has probably released it in the lake and its survived.

The next two shots show one of the lakes, plenty of Gulls making lots of noise.

And finally a Ruddy Duck, Its the blue beak that I really like.

All photos taken 03/05/2008.

  1. What interesting pictures, Mike! I really love the shot of the ruddy duck. I've only seen them once, when I first got a camera, and it was the most fantastic scene, with two of them fighting furiously. I didn't know how to freeze motion at the time. The pictures were a disaster, but it was fun to watch.

  3. I love the turtle! It looks like the same type I see here, but I have no idea what they are. That's a lot of gulls....are they all the same kind, or do you have a lot of different types? I don't see a lot of gulls here being inland. I think the picture is really super with all that white gathered in one spot! That duck is really neat...I see why you like the blue beak. Such an unexpected color for a duck to have. Makes you wonder why? Really great photos!

  4. Thanks for dropping by everyone.

Hi Mary, Gulls are quite common here, but I am hoping to post some more interesting shots in the up and coming few week, Puffins / Gannets if i'm lucky.

  5. Spectacular pics! Delamere forest
is must see place in the north west and is also one of my favorite attraction! It offers a great evergreen forest, open grassland and wetlands along with numerous species of wildlife to take photograph, admire and enjoy.
