Having been inspired by a visit from Jane on my Formby Point blog, I though I would show a few pictures I took whilst in Arne, Dorset during September this year on holiday, probably not a million miles away from her local patches.

We went initially to possibly see a Dartford Warbler, but was blown away by all the deer there and ended up taking most of my pictures of them instead.

Here are a few shots that I got, my only wish is that I could have had the 170-500mm lense that I use now.

I have a few more pics here in the mammal section.

All photos taken with Nikon D70 + 70-300mm lense.

  2. Glad I inspired you! Lovely deer pictures. The Sika deer at Arne are causing quite a problem, as you probably realised when you went, they are everywhere! You have now inspired me to dig out some old film that I took of these deer standing on their back legs stretching for tree leaves. I too had gone looking for dartford warblers. Arne is a magic place, everyone who loves wildlife should take a trip there if they visit Dorset, it's about 15 mins away from me, so I'm very, very lucky. (by the way it's also a very good area for our 6 native lizards, otters, nightjars...and marsh harriers)
